Twenty years of surveying both white- and blue-collar workers in a wide variety of industries reveal that employees generally look for four broad categories in work: value, purpose, certainty and belonging. Six strategies may help meet these needs:

  2. Provide better career opportunities
  3. Elevate the company’s purpose
  4. Prioritize culture and connection
  5. Take better care of employees and their families
  6. Embrace flexibility
