The NBOA Professional Achievement Award recognizes the invaluable contributions made by independent school business, finance and operations staff who are not business officers. These staff members distinguish themselves every day and make exceptional contributions to their schools and the independent school community. Multiple skillsets: Licari served for 22 years as the controller for Friends Academy, and demonstrating a passion for employee relations and benefits administration, she obtained professional certification in human resources. “While developing her professional expertise in human resources, Tricia provided outstanding support in the finance office's day-to-day operations, including the oversight of payroll, and embodies the school's ethos of Strong Minds and Kind Hearts,” said Ann Marie Tidona, director of finance, operations and strategic projects.
Provides counsel and leadership: Licari is a consummate professional, holding herself to the highest standards. She is a source of counsel to the leadership team around employee relations and workplace conflict resolution and is serving on a committee focused on employee recruitment and retention from diverse backgrounds and cultures. “I could think of no greater partner in managing financial and human capital and service to the Friends Academy community,” said Tidona. “Tricia is a thoughtful and committed leader willing to listen fully and deeply to an individual's personal story.”
A passion for people: Licari advocates tirelessly for the health and wellness of the school's employees. “Tricia is widely known for her compassion and patience, giving freely of her time to meet with employees around sensitive human resource matters or to lend a supporting hand in retirement and benefits management,” said Tidona. She adds there was no doubt Licari rose to the to the occasion in managing the compliance and regulatory challenges of the COVID environment, all while holding the employees' safety and wellbeing at the forefront of decision making.
