New Tool Helps Schools Go Phone-Free

By Net Assets posted 11 days ago

(From The Guardian) In an effort to curb distraction during school hours, more than 1,000 schools this year will be using Yondr, a magnetic pouch system that allows students to lock away their phones while they’re in class. These devices stay locked until the end of the day, when students tap it on an unlocking magnet station. Educators generally say students have been more engaged with their education since adopting the phone locking policies, and students have also noticed a difference in their peers. “Even people who were on their phones in minor ways, like checking the time and checking notifications, those minor ways add up and have an effect on how engaged you are,"  one student of San Mateo High School in California said. "Socially, [Yondr] has improved us.”
